Holy Travel Overload

Have you entered the giveaway going on now?? Ends 19 April, 2012.

Wow… ok the last of the traveling is done. Don’t get me wrong, I have loved having my mom here and getting to go different places that she wanted to see, but I suck at traveling. It puts me in a funk and I hate doing it. Last week when she first got here, we went to Paris, then we took a quick trip to Rothenburg ob der Tauber, and then this week we drove (6 freaking hours) to Salzburg, Austria to go on The Sound of Music tour and then head to Neuschwanstein which is the castle used in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang for the exterior shots of the castle, and is the castle that Disney modeled Sleeping Beauty’s castle from. All of the trips were absolutely amazing….but I am wore the freak out!

We started a bit late driving on Sunday (Easter…yeah, not all that fun), and made it to Salzburg in about 6 hours. One thing we definately did not plan for is the weather. Germany has been about 50′s and 60′s lately so we were dressing for that…and the hubs “checked” the weather and said it was “about the same” in Salzburg, so that’s what we packed for…However, there is snow on the ground and not just in the mountains…I’m talking on. the. ground. WTF? I brought ballet flats and some open shoes. No bueno!

The hotel in Salzburg was absolutely amazing though. Compared to the hotel we stayed at in Paris, this thing looks like the Ritz. It was well worth the money paid. And unlike the Paris hotel, it has hot water…BONUS, especially with all of the darn snow on the ground! We went to dinner Sunday evening at a cute little restaurant and had some of the most amazing food. I wish I would have taken a picture of my dessert, but of course, I didn’t so let me describe it for you. Vanilla ice cream in a flute glass and a gravy boat full of chocolate syrup!! Are you kidding me?!!? These people know how to party! I was so excited!!!!! I love me some chocolate so this was perfect…and yes, I used it all. I’m over it, I walked all week doing the touristy type stuff so I am pretty sure I burned off at least a quarter of the calories!

The Sound of Music Tour was fantastic. It was my mom’s favorite part…she seriously was like a little kid…it was too cute!

The house used in the movie as the front of the house, and the lake is where the children fell in.
This is the house that was used for the “back” of the house in the movie.
Seriously, I am pretty sure you know… I am sixteen going on seventeen…:)
The path that Maria took when she first arrived at the Von Trapps.
Not movie related, but it is the Red Bull Headquarters…rough life huh?? Amazing!
One of the lakes that was shown in the movie..gorgeous view!
Hanging out in her German dress at a local cafe. So cute!!
“Cream colored ponies and crisp apple streudels, Doorbells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles”
The church where they got married at.
Inside of the church.
Miss M on the steps of the church.
The gardens where the children and Maria sang Do Re Mi
The gnome used in the song that the children danced around.
Miss M looking fancy on a cute little tree we found;) She just loved all the attention she got from wearing that dress….lol too cute!
After the tour was over, we headed 3 hours north to Schwangau, Germany to stay in an apartment for a couple nights. We took the tour of the castle…which didn’t allow pictures (no bueno), but it was amazing!
Hohenschwangau Castle
Neuschwanstein Castle…of course under construction…booo!!!
There was a route to take to walk across the bridge….but I’m good….pics are fine with me…a little too high up!;)

Then finally we went home…thank God! It was amazing, but boy am I glad to be done traveling for a while!

A family trip to Paris

We spent the last three days in Paris and it was absolutely beautiful!! When my mom first decided she was coming over here, we knew we had to go to Paris to make the trip totally worth it. I have never been, and Miss M obviously hasn’t. The hubs went a long time ago, so it was definitely time to go again:). The weather was absolutely gorgeous, the sights were amazing, and all in all, it was a perfect trip. Here are a few pics from our trip!

She wanted to be sassy:)
Me, Miss M, and my mom
People standing outside of the Louis Vuitton store…not going to lie, if I was by myself I’d be there too:)
Had to get a pic of the Mona Lisa…the crowd was ridiculous!

It truly was a trip to remember:) The only down side was that each bathroom cost money to go into, or you had to go in a cafe and order something so that you could use their bathroom. It was a vicious cycle, we would have to pee, then go into a cafe to get a drink so that we were “customers” and then loiter around until we had to pee again. We literally counted it all and we spent over 100 euro just on bathrooms and being “customers”. Slightly ridiculous! Miss M had to go potty REALLY badly and we didn’t quite make it in time, so she left her mark on the side of the sidewalk:) LOL..whatever. But then she got a really cute pair of pants at the Gap so I’m ok with it;)…poor thing!! She was so upset!

I hope you enjoyed the pictures!
